Family Grounds Cafe

A humorous fellow coffee drinker (at least he is entertaining to me) recently sent me an email about the Family Grounds Café on the North side. Although the subject line had a sharp snide remark, I knew deep down that he wouldn’t have sent me the info unless the location warranted true value.

As a person that performs Marketing as a means to pay the taxes, the name conjured immediate images that were not the most positive. My first thought was that this was some setup in a local church basement with a couple of 30-year-old Mr. Coffee machines atop a folding card table on the outskirts of a sea of strewn chewed-on toddler toys. Well, with many of my assumptions, I was wrong. And ladies and gents, I have no issue admitting when I am wrong. And although the message that accompanied the initial recommendation was quite sarcastic, I completely agreed with the strong rational for a potential demand for these types of coffee locations. Hear that Evanston, Lake Forest, Highland Park, Deerfield, and Glenview? The stay at home moms in those areas eat this stuff up!

Family Grounds Cafe is strongly encouraged for the parental units who find the calling to bring their small children to any coffeehouse to yell, cry, screech, run around, and knock over displays- all while the parent reads a newspaper, blowing on their coffee, and being in denial that they spawned the demon-child pulling the toilet paper from the bathroom (true story).

Well another option is Family Grounds Café. This place is very unique for people who love their coffee and realize that their kid’s antics are not cute to everyone.

Parents – have that long conversation over coffee. Friends – catch up on the latest book or get together for a Moms Group or a Dads Group. All while your kids play safely nearby in the 1,500 square foot indoor kids play space...where kids can be kids. Family Grounds Cafe Company is the joining of three passions: Coffee, Community and Kids. They successfully meet the expressed needs of Chicago parents while providing an atmosphere for kids to be themselves. They are the kid friendly coffee shop of Chicago. Just nod if any of the following resonate:

·        It's so quiet in this cafe and my children are being loud - totally uncomfortable!
·        My condo is pretty small...and oh, you're bringing all your kids?
·        Finish a conversation? What? Is that possible once you have kids?
·        Cabin fever is setting in, and we need to get out!
·        Mommy, daddy, mommy, daddy, mommy, daddy, mommy, daddy!

A Sophisticated Chicago Cafe
Moms, Dads, Singles, Neighbors…everyone needs a break. Sit down in the trendy Chicago cafe that has plenty seating, free WiFi, and superb Intelligentsia coffee and Sugar & Spice pastries, as well as a light menu of sandwiches and soups. Melt away your stress over a latte, tea, house blend coffee and a decadent pastry. Separated from the main cafe by soundproof glass, kids play in view nearby in a mind-stimulating indoor playground while you take in the cafe ambiance of the Family Grounds Cafe experience.
